Working with James, I believe, truly enhanced my performance in the pool, physically but also mentally. He is amazing at encouraging and helping you acknowledge your goals and where you want to go but also then being able to put those goals to the back of your mind so you can enjoy and learn and focus on the process, and for me personally and in swimming the process is huge. He is a person who lives in the present and can really connect with you and how you feel which makes training so much better because he has that understanding of what is going to be good for you that day. Not only his coaching but his knowledge of how the body works and everything kinesthetic puts in place a scientific and factual backup to why you are doing what you are doing. All of this with him also being a very genuine person and being able to have interesting conversations and laughs throughout training makes it fun and enjoyable to work with him.
